I’m a biochemist with a strong passion for expanding our understanding of how transmembrane transport proteins work at the molecular level. These transporter proteins are implicated in various disease states, which is a great motivational factor in my work. By gaining new insight into the workings of these proteins, we can also gain pharmacological understanding which can be used to promote drug development for the treatment of disease states.I have a broad methodological background with experience in a range of experimental setups; • Recombinant protein production and purification • Structural characterization (NMR & X-ray crystallography) • Dynamic characterization (fluorescence based methods) • Activity assays (using radioactive compounds) • Screening of detergent compounds for membrane protein stability. I strive to be at the cutting edge and combine my work with state-of-the-art knowledge from experts around the world, to obtain a clearer understanding of how transporter proteins work at a molecular level.
