As the Operations and Procurement Specialist, I manage the entire operational activities and the operations team within WARC's WATIH Project in Tumu. This simply means, am the pivot for all the diverse team (namely the technical team, SDU team, etc.) to early-stage the development of the New African Farmer project. This includes thinks like prior planning of the input supply, mechanization services, sourcing procurement and contracting, logistics and solving the puzzle to make sure operation continue to be on-the-go without compromising on quality and in the same vain, achieving value for money. But it also mean exploring new ways of doing things - especially through proactiveness, prior planning, lean management, cost reduction and building strong supplier relationships.Some things am proud of:- Developed a negotiation and competitive strategy to reduce procurement cost by more than 50% and 90 days credit period after services or products have been delivered.- Reduced cost by sourcing government subsidized inputs which was accrued to 42% cost savings of the total cost of inputs.- I rented motor bikes for all farmer connectors and junior agronomists at at 50% less as compare the initial arrangement before my engagement (from GHS100 to GHS50 per day).- I arranged with a fuel Pump station for us to fill our vehicles and machines on credit and pay back weekly, which reduced full wastages and fuel cost by 30%, this enhanced operations significantly.- Reduced machine maintenance cost by 70% through a regular maintenance and also agreeing with service providers to pay maintenance cost above $50. - comprehensive communication was used to reduce over ordering, unneeded inputs and to return machines after use, so as to not to increase costs of delay.
