I worked in this role for two time periods: May - Aug 2021 and Nov 2022 - Jan 2022.Below are my main accomplishments:● Synthesized and purified a [5]helicene monomer for high temperature Polymeric Matrix Composite (PMC) applications (hand layup, resin transfer molding, and chopped fiber 3D printing)● Synthesized [5]helicene precursors with chiral auxiliary groups to preferentially form one [5]helicene enantiomer during photocyclizationThis work was done in a team setting where I worked alongside a senior research chemist, 5th year PhD candidate, masters student, and postdoc. These three individuals all have degrees in chemistry.

I worked in this role for one time period: May - Aug 2022.Below are my main accomplishments:● Investigated the effect of adjuvants on soil mobility, plant uptake, and the post infestation efficacy of discovery nematode pesticides on vegetable crops● Improved and optimized a semi-automated assay for high throughput soil mobility studiesIn this role, I worked alongside a nematologist and a chemist.

I worked in this role during three time periods: Dec 2020 - Jan 2021, May - Aug 2020 and Dec 2019 - Jan 2020.Below are my main accomplishments:● Developed a Python batch processor to automatically characterize cross sectional void zone depth for a thermal oxidative stability (TOS) study of neat polymeric resins under bright field optical microscopy● Mapped elemental composition of TOS samples on a scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) to characterize oxidative damage over time● Measured discoloration depth of TOS samples under dark field microscopy and found agreement with SEM/EDS elemental analysis which may yield significant reductions in processing timeIn this role I worked alongside three research engineers and an undergraduate chemical engineer.
