Dr. Jon Arthur is the Executive Director of the American Geosciences Institute (AGI). Prior to to this role, he served as State Geologist of Florida and Director of the Florida Geological Survey. Jon is a Fellow of the Geological Society of America, and received the John T. Galey, Sr. Memorial Public Service Award from the American Institute of Professional Geologists. He has served on the AGI Board of Directors, and as president of the Association of American State Geologists and the Florida Association of Professional Geologists. Jon also serves on the Water Science Technology Board of the National Academy of Sciences, where he has also served on several committees. Jon has given congressional briefings and testimony, keynotes, and invited technical presentations, including international workshops. His engagement is focused on geoscience education at all levels, geoscience policy, public awareness, and application of geosciences to address energy, mineral and water needs as well as environmental concerns.
