My passion is taking ideas and moving them forwards into formal projects. I discovered and became enlightened by Alexander Osterwalder's book - Business Model Generation, this handbook well characterizes my modus operandi to find value in experiences by creating programs.I've been fully devoted for several decades to the clinical neurosciences and athletics (specifically endurance running). My career has been as an adult neurologist/ neurophysiologist and main hobby training for endurance events. I have learned through trial and error to build up my capacity to run for many hours at a time. Running is so important to me not just for the fitness aspects but from a mind-body perspective . I have trained year around for 22 straight years and in my competitive years completed 38 endurance events from 26.2 to 52 miles. Endurance running is my secret sauce ; I can often arrange my thoughts and stir up “ crazy “ ideas while on the move. I usually have a number of projects ongoing in different stages of development. I am most proud of a program that I created in 2016 at Kaiser Permanente San Rafael, CA. It was an outpatient multi disciplinary educational series for patients with early to mid stage cognitive disorders (about 20% of the population at age 65, 50% at age 80 and 75% at age 90). We would meet for 90 minutes in a class room style setting on 4 consecutive weeks and share stories and strategies of how an aging brain has impacted day to day functioning. Participants learned how to adapt and cope with these chronic memory and thinking challenges and teach life style and behavioral skills to reduce the risk of cognitive decline. Working with Dr. Davor Zink PhD Neuropsychologist at Renown Health, we developed a Neurocognitive Rehabilitation and Brain Health Program for patients in Northern Nevada.Presently I am working with faculty at the UN-Reno School of Public Health, representatives from the Alzheimer's Association and clinicians at the Lou Ruvo Brain Health Center (Las Vegas) to develop a Nevada Memory Care Network to include an IT research infrastructure. Previously I was a dedicated advocate for health and wellness at K.P. and The Permanente Medical Group and community advocate for the benefits of physical fitness, I had been a volunteer and the Director of Strategic Initiatives with the Sustainable Sports Foundation, a Non for Profit Organization in Marin County CA to raise money for health related causes primarily for brain related neurodegenerative disorders.http://sustainablesports.org/
