My role at EMPA as a Scattering Scientist is to take part into the development of future advanced materials developed within EMPA and its industrial collaborators.

In my work at Konstanz University, I research the fundamental nature of minerals formation, using a wide variety of spectroscopy and thermodynamic tools. Our understanding of the novel non-classical nucleation theory allowed our group to develop new advanced materials for pharmaceutical, biomedical and construction applications. The research and development (R&D) effort we have developed allows us to perform quality control (QC) of various products in collaboration with industry partners.

Group of Prof. Dr. Andrew Rose / co-supervised by Dr. Isaac SantosIn my PhD, I investigated the puzzle of the formation of calcium carbonate minerals. I developed new analytical tools to define small transients species called prenuclation clusters using synchrotron and neutron radiations techniques. I received a prestigious research award from the Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering and was allocated 600h of research on cutting edge technologies.
