I have spent my career working within many industries financial; utilities; government; and telecommunications. Working for many companies Stanwell, GBST, SA Water, JPMorgan Chase, HSBC, GISCA and Department for Environment & Heritage (DEH). I reported to the head of Engineering Architecture. My responsibilities are to set standards for process, practice, tooling and training across architecture, analysis and design. In this role I enhanced the group SDLC process, R2pb. R2pb is a RUP based process and the architecture framework is based on TOGAF.- Created a standard modeling approach across global architecture for defining solution architectures. Involved coordinating requirements amongst various communities; identifying an appropriate methodology and developing the guidance material; facilitating reviews; regular communications with community and executive.- Gold Suite 3.0 and One HSBC Distribution 1.3.1 Solution Architect – I was responsible for defining the solution architecture for both programs as part of the GS 3.0 release. Involved conducting an impact analysis, technology review, define architecture, complete peer review and support certification process. I reported directly to the head architect and the program manager for GS 3.0. GS 3.0 is a global packaging, testing and certification program for all the banks core systems: this is an n-tier application, including: multi-channel distribution (web, mobile and ATM); MQ messaging EAI and mainframe banking services.- Led the commercialization work stream tasked with identifying a means of capturing and articulating the impact of architectural decisions on the commercial viability of a product during a release and the product life-cycle. - Provided consultation in the Information Modeling Framework (IMF) program. Employed as a member of the Enterprise Architect team within the North American Consumer Mortgage & Lending branch of HSBC. I am now collaborating on a global effort, to define a standard future state architecture for HSBC and the supporting application lifecycle. I have worked in a number of roles in DEH ranging from Software Engineer, Team Leader and lately as System Architect. I was the team leader for the Asset Register and Management Information Systems (ARAMIS). This was first built using Java Servlet/CORBA back in 1999. I then worked with a systems architect to develop a new J2EE standard architecture for the department. This involved a lot of R&D work and evaluating COTS products and frameworks. I then worked as the Systems Architect and Team Leader on the Australian Virtual Herbarium (AVH), a distributed web services interface into Australia's herbarium data, and then the ARAMIS redevelopment project. This project started in 2004 and was successfully migrated into production Feb 2007. The system includes remote data capture using PDAs; and a central data checkin/out component using web services. This was all written using J2EE 1.4, VB.NET and used products, such as ESRI spatial software, Stellent document repository.
I worked as a software engineer for a telecommunications company in Dublin. My role involved architecting and developing an online topup and tones service for prepaid mobiles. The system provided a client interface for ordering topups, which in turn billed the appropriate bank, and then credited phone and sent a confirmation message by interfacing with an SMSC service. It also had a web services interface to a company in Africa that provided ring tones and logos. This web service was written using VB.NET. The system was written using J2EE.
