Member of the sales team for the rotary friction welding business unit, focusing on generating revenue through new machine orders, retrofits of existing machines, tooling packages, and research and development projects. Responsibilities included:* Making initial contact with customers after receiving inquiries through company web site* Educating customers about the friction welding process, often serving as a technical adviser* Calculating machine sizing and process parameters given product information from customers* Working closely with application engineers to develop prototype machine and/or cell concepts* Drafting, providing, reviewing, and negotiating proposals supplied to customers* Maintaining records of customer interactions and providing follow up through the use of SugarCRM

Oversaw and ran the day-to-day operations for the machine build portion of the business. Space consisted of 65,000 sq-ft and included low bays, high bays, machine shop, sheet metal, grind room, and paint booth. Responsibilities included:* Direct supervision of 15 – 20 employees, including mechanical build, panel build/machine wiring, and paint* Engaging with engineering, project managers, and supply chain to ensure project timeliness and success* Planning shop layouts for multiple projects, forecasting space utilization up to a year or more in advance* Interfacing with key suppliers to develop improved supply chain relationships* Coordinating and hiring contract labor to create flex capacity as needed* Working with quality and safety coordinator to maintain ISO 9001, AS9100, and NADCAP certifications

Assisted the Manufacturing Manager with overseeing the machine build portion of the business. Responsibilities included:* Creating individual and department KPIs* Coordinating and scheduling build activities based on manpower and resource availability* Utilizing the Made2Manage ERP system to find information and generate various reports* Maintaining inventory levels of manufacturing supplies and placing order requests as needed* Verifying and approving daily time sheets* Creating articles for the company newsletterAdditionally, during this time I served as a member of the organizational cross-functional groups focused on the concepts of Cannot Miss Dates and Communication.

Participated in, provided feedback, and helped HR co-develop an internal training program to assist new hires with becoming familiar with friction welding. Time was spent within the various areas of the business including: * Contract Welding - operating friction welding machines to produce product for customers * Machine Build - assist with assembly of large capital machines for the friction welding process * Service - travel to customer sites for troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment * Project Management - assist with the coordination of activities related to a machine project * Process Development - optimize design and/or process parameters for friction welding * Sales - support sales by reviewing specifications and drafting proposals for machine salesThis training experience allowed the opportunity to see how the different areas of the business operated and interacted both internally as well as externally with customers.Additionally, I inherited, developed, and maintained a tool used for determining organization capacity across various functional work centers.
