For over 30 years I’ve worked on renewable solar and wind systems internationally. As a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco working with the Ministry of Energy at the start of their new Center for Development of Renewable Energy based in Marrakesh, we demonstrated the use of solar and wind systems for water pumping throughout the Sahara region. In 1986, our team of Moroccan engineers and technicians installed the first modern 10 KW wind turbine at an agricultural cooperative on the Atlantic coast, in the same region where the 200 MW Jebel Lahdid Wind Farm project was just recently installed. As an Adjunct Professor for 7-years at the Monterey Institute of International Studies (now Middlebury), I lectured on renewable energy development issues while consulting with companies developing solar and wind projects throughout the region including Entegrity Wind Systems Inc., assessing the market for wind energy development in the Salinas Valley of Monterey County, where four 1.5 MW turbines have now been installed. I've given numerous talks on renewable energy systems to federal/state agencies (USDA/NRCS and RCD's), environmental nonprofit organizations (annual Eco-Farm conferences), in Europe at the International Renewables and Realities Conference in Lolland, Denmark, 'Accelerating Climate Change Solutions', while meeting and working with the CTO at Vestas. More recently, in April 2018, I was the plenary speaker on 'Renewable Energy Power Shift', at the International Conference on Climate Change: Impacts & Responses, with 120 scientists from all over the world at U.C. Berkeley.Founder of 'Pacific Coast Wind' with a mission to support, promote, & develop renewable energy in the Central Coast region of California. CA Senate Bill 100 sets the goal of 100% renewable electricity by 2045, which we can achieve with 'Floating Offshore Wind', - a technology and industry 'game changer' - that will significantly reducing the burning of fossil fuels and carbon emissions.
