Responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of all Atlantic region TCP/IP networks including the provision of top-tier support for all Cisco network elements, CMTS (cable modem termination systems) and Network Management (NMS) networks/servers. Responsibilities included on-call reactive maintenance for all production Internet email/web/DNS/DHCP/NNTP servers. Jonathan also fulfilled systematic network and server security management, completed documentation and training. During this time, Jonathan was also responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting and reporting on all data, telecommunication, Internet, HFC and CATV networks and services. He resolved complex network and server security issues, performed CMTS and cable modem management, was responsible for server administration and oversaw the implementation of change management controls and procedures. In addition, he completed the design and implementation of network reporting and escalation mechanisms as well as provided provisioning data, completed capacity planning and interacted with service providers and vendors.

Jonathan provided technical support and troubleshooting for high speed business and residential Internet services as well as provided third level support, troubleshooting, and modem/line testing for the provincial dial-up Internet service. This position required Jonathan to detail and resolve complex technical issues and problems with non-technical users.While working as the Technical Service Manager for the national cellular carrier, Jonathan was responsible for cellular network and telephone programming, customer service issues, service repairs, management of warranty claims and inventory control. In addition, he administered a Novell file server and the corporate network and worked on WAN network capacity and equipment upgrades.

Grand Bank Newfoundland

During the summer, Jonathan worked as an Electronics Engineering Technologist and participated in the installation and repair of radar, loran and GPS navigation equipment, HF radio communications equipment, autopilot and other marine electronic systems. Related to the installation of this equipment was the design, manufacture and interfacing of various protocol interface devices and cabling.

During the summer, Jonathan worked as a Training Coordinator for a regional healthcare provider, and worked closely with persons with learning disabilities to perform specific tasks necessary in the workplace including math skills, mobility enhancement as well as working with computers and computer applications.
