I first began honing my writing and communication skills as a journalism student at San Francisco State University, where my award winning articles caught the attention of my editors and led to my appointment as executive editor of the SFSU [X]Press magazine. As executive editor, I was responsible for directing multiple projects simultaneously, guiding a team of writers, proof reading, copy editing, fact checking, assisting with layout design, and ensuring that everyone worked well together.After graduating with honors (3.83 GPA) from SFSU with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, I moved on to work as an independent freelance writer for the reputable motorcycle blog Motorcycle Daily.com, and became a contributing writer for San Francisco’s City Bike magazine. Most recently, a feature article I wrote on Yamaha’s new 2012 adventure motorcycle earned the front page of City Bike’s January 2011 edition. In addition to my writing and editing abilities, I learned the basic skills needed to succeed in the digital age by taking specialized classes at SFSU, such as Introduction to Online Journalism and Digital Skills for News. These courses taught me how to use many different online publishing platforms, as well as computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Google Analytics, Keywords, and many more.
