My most recent responsibility before AMD was analysing and improving application performance for clients of the European Union's ‘Performance Optimisation and Productivity (POP) Centre of Excellence in HPC’, at scales ranging from desktop code to software designed to run on the world’s largest supercomputers.In other roles I've written code in a range of languages including C, C++, Fortran, MATLAB and Python, and I've the ability to quickly learn new languages and paradigms. My work has focussed on producing well written and efficient mathematical and scientific software e.g., routines for the Harwell Subroutine Library, the NAG Library and parallel C++ finite-element library code. I'm expert in optimising software for shared and distributed memory architectures and GPUs, including using MPI, OpenMP and CUDA, and tuning performance using a range of tracing and profiling tools.This builds on my earlier career in physics, engineering and mathematic, working on a range of research and development projects.
