While working with nurses, I would discharge patients, record patient vitals and food/fluid intake, restock supplies in the storage room, answer incoming calls, escort patient's families around in the hospital. When I was with the Doctors of Physical Therapy (DPTs) at the main hospital, I would help record the vitals before, during, and after activity. I would also help the DPT by retrieving any needed equipment (i.e. gait belt, 4 wheel walker, front-wheel walker, etc.). If given permission by the DPT, I would also aid the patient in sitting up, walking, and moving up the bed. While shadowing DPTs at the outpatient location, I was shown the different exercises the DPTs would use to aid the patient and I was told how the exercise aided the patient.
