I am the chief executive of Ofgem, the independent energy regulator for Great Britain, and chief executive of the UK Regulators Network (UKRN). Ofgem’s mission is to protect the interests of energy consumers today and tomorrow, and to lead the energy sector to help meet the UK’s net zero climate change goals. Equally, we aim to be a great place to work. In particular, we are family-friendly and want our team to be as diverse as the public that we serve. The UKRN brings together regulators from the UK’s utility, financial and transport sectors on knowledge, cross-cutting issues and ways of working for the benefit of consumers and the economy.Prior to taking up the position of chief executive I led Ofgem’s networks programme, and was a member of Ofgem’s governing board. I have wide-ranging energy sector experience, having led the Government's Electricity Market Reform programme as director of energy markets and networks. Prior to this, I was director of the Office of Climate Change, a cross-government strategy unit focused on climate change and energy issues, where I led the development of the Climate Change Act. Earlier in my career, I served as a senior adviser in the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit.Before joining Ofgem, I ran a consultancy company focused on regulatory issues and commercial strategy.
