I started my working life in the Royal Military Police (British Army). Most of that time was spent on close protection operations around the world. I moved into the private close protection sector providing personal security to a FORBES top 10, ultra high net worth individual and their family around the world.Throughout my time in the Army and the private sector, I continued to train and coach in various martial arts and combats systems, primarily the Israeli system of Krav Maga, including living and training in Israel, learning from the best instructors in the world.I was then appointed as the Training Director for Krav Maga Global in the UK, responsible for instructor training and development and short term international coaching projects in the USA and Europe.I also opened my own full time Krav Maga training centre in Essex, which has over 250 members and a full-time instructor team. I then published my book, Krav Maga Success.Over the years, my study has expanded from physical self defence skills to de-escalation, personal safety, conflict resolution and many other associated subjects focused on the psychology of violence and why it occurs.For the past 10 years I have been a Defensive Tactics subject matter expert to the MOD, Law Enforcement and private companies, which then led to co-founding Everyday Self Defence (ESD).ESD provides short and intensive de-escalation, personal safety and self-defence training courses to the corporate sector, working with companies who invest in the safety of their staff both in and out of work.I’ve written and delivered both accredited and bespoke training programmes for the Ministry of Defence, British Army, National Crime Agency, various UK Police teams, G4S, SKY, Virgin Media O2, Google, Meta, YouTube, Local Authorities and many SME’s.Email me: ✉ jon@learnesd.com
