I lead the development and construction of two-photon microscopy systems in the Culver lab at Washington University in St. Louis. My work focuses on developing high optical throughput systems that are capable of imaging large field-of-view (FOV) with sub-micron resolution. My expertise includes optical design using Zemax, hands-on alignment of optical components (TiS laser, mirror galvanometer, scanning lenses, etc), opto-mechanical design, and image and signal processing. I perform system calibration and validation tests of optical systems including sub-micron resolution measurements, field-of-view tests, and SNR measurements. In addition to optical design, I am responsible for electrical systems in the microscope including: amplifiers and filters, control signals from National Instruments DAQ and low-cost microcontrollers, synchronization of signals, and analog signal acquisition and digitization. I also mentor and manage several graduate and undergraduate students in the development of other optical imaging systems. Programming: Matlab, C++, Python, ProcessingSoftware: Zemax, Autodesk Autocad, Fusion 360, Inventor, and Eagle, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Office Suite, GithubTechnical skills and expertise: Optical system development, laser-scanning (galvanometer and resonant), two-photon microscopy, optical alignment, prototyping, image and digital signal processing, optical design, opto-mechanical design, Ti:Sapphire laser operation and alignment, 3D printing, National Instruments DAQ
