I'm a 15-year veteran of boat building, automotive and powersports operations. I began my career like many production leaders: tactical roles and tangible metrics. My first job was to create “pull” as an Industrial Engineer in back-shop operations. As a Manufacturing Engineer, I learned takt-based process development and how critical it is to standardize an operation before trying to improve it. Eventually, I began introducing new product to our factory as a Sr. ME which allowed me to study DFM/A and drive process-FMEA. Finally, I stopped managing processes and began managing people. Every day I strove to ensure our Team Members were setup for success with a cross-functional team hell bent on continuously improving our assembly line. Through it all, I firmly believe that great processes lead to an excellent production environment where it’s easy to safely build quality products quickly.
