I'm an astrophysicist (in training) working as a graduate research assistant at UNC. Using multiple databases containing the physical characteristics of millions of stars, I disentangle young, rare, and relatively small groups of stars from the general field population. After creating an automated pipeline in Python to measure activity indicators of tens of thousands of young stars, I designed a Bayesian framework to quantify the likelihood that a star is a member of these particular groups given their activity information. I am actively contributing this analysis to the TESS Hunt for Young and Maturing Exoplanets (THYME) collaboration and applying it to stellar groups of personal interest.
