I am an experienced and ambitious practitioner of Performing Arts who approaches teaching andeducation with an extremely high level of enthusiasm and professionalism. I trained as a professional actor at Drama Studio London and since then have built up a wealth ofknowledge and experience teaching the subjects of Drama, Musical Theatre, Public Speaking,Shakespeare Studies, Confidence Development, Vocabulary Enrichment and Singing.In my current role as Head of Drama at Milton Hall Primary School, I have established a DramaDepartment that delivers enriching, engaging and exciting lessons and experiences to childrenfrom Nursery age to Year 6. Under my direction, Drama enhances the curriculum, deliveringparticularly positive and pleasing results for students who struggle in other, more “traditionallyacademic” subjects. I have used the subject of Drama to channel children’s energy to positivepursuits, introducing them to new horizons and encouraging interests involving the arts. On apersonal level, I have been honoured and delighted to watch my pupils carry talents, passions andinterests well beyond Year 6, into secondary schools and vocational training schools and colleges.In my role as leader of the Drama department, I introduced LAMDA exams to the school in 2014,and have undertaken various associated duties: registering and entering pupils, liaising with theexamining board, as well as tutoring all examinees. The examinations have included Verse andProse, Reading for Performance, Acting and Devised Group Pieces, and pupils consistentlyachieve high marks across all disciplines. I have also tutored students for many local Music andDrama Festivals, where recently my pupils won a trophy for writing and performing their ownoriginal comedy sketch.I have also taken on the role of Artistic Director for all theatrical productions at the school.Particular successes include The Jungle Book, Annie, Aladdin, Bugsy Malone, Beauty and theBeast, The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan. As Artistic Director I was responsible for scheduling andleading acting rehearsals, singing rehearsals, and sourcing scenery and costumes. I also enjoyedrecruiting and working with a team of colleagues who assist with these productions, as well ascreating and exploring opportunities for students to take on vital off-stage roles, such aschoreography and stage management. My twin loves of theatre and education both share acommon factor: people working together to achieve something special that benefits and enrichesindividuals and communities alike.
