I have been working in the medical device software area for the past 9 years managing software development teams and projects, writing and maintaining code, and working to ensure regulatory compliance. My most recent position involved consulting for a startup in the medical device space, doing project management, customization of a real-time operating system and documentation. Previously, I was manager of a software development team that delivered solutions based on machine learning and custom CAD for the dental industry. I am an experienced C++ developer and provide direction, guidance and mentoring to teams as well as ensure that we are well aligned with the needs of stakeholders and the solutions we develop benefit our customers and their patients. My work graduate work was in computational neuroscience, where I developed models of pattern generating neural networks with based on cellular electophysiology. This work involved collaborating with experimentalists as well as post doctoral researchers, and resulted in a number of published peer-reviewed papers focused on the area of homeostatic regulation of biological neural networks.Prior to graduate school, I worked as a teacher in secondary education teaching classes in computer science, chemistry and earth science.
