During my tenure as a returning intern at Freeport-McMoRan, I was entrusted with significant, large-scale projects that demanded comprehensive project management oversight throughout their entire lifecycle. Within this internship, I orchestrated and managed a diverse array of tasks, skillfully coordinating the efforts of numerous contractors and internal teams to successfully conceive and execute the construction and commissioning of a state-of-the-art Pregnant Leach Solution pump station.This complex project encompassed the establishment of both a 12MVA and a 10MVA substation to supply robust power to a total of ten motor pumps, consisting of five 250HP and five 900HP units. In addition to this, I provided vigilant supervision for the installation of two medium-voltage motor control centers and a low-voltage motor control center, seamlessly integrating these systems with an uninterruptible power supply and a programmable logic controller, the latter expertly programmed through the utilization of ladder logic.Furthermore, I played an integral role in the execution of the relocation process for 66KV and 13.8KV power lines, a crucial component of a larger tailings dam expansion initiative. Throughout the duration of my internship, I leveraged advanced software tools, including SKM and AutoCAD, to conduct precise load studies and perform meticulous short-circuit analyses, ensuring the project's success with a high level of professionalism and precision.

Throughout this internship I acquired valuable experience and skills that have helped shape my professional development. I worked side by side with multiple power engineers on large capital projects that were implemented throughout the mine site that required extensive collaboration and critical thinking. Also, I led various projects of my own that involved substations, transformers, arc flash analysis, and three-phase load studies. The projects that I was assigned were mainly about power distribution and load studies that would provide the most efficient infrastructure within the mine site. Further, I was introduced to CAD software in this internship and designed various single-line diagrams that were later submitted into the plant engineering divisions archives for future reference. I was also given the opportunity to attend a training course provided by the Chief Power Engineer of Freeport-McMoran. This course included topics such as short-circuit analysis, load analysis, and 3-Phase Power Systems.
