Throughout my career I’ve aimed to make a positive difference. Easy words to write but what does it mean?Firstly, the work I and the people around me do has to be amazing. You cannot make a difference if the work is dull, or fine, or ok. It must make you want to turn up to work each day and deliver your best results.Secondly, I love to see people develop and to be a full part of developing them. I respect people for who they are so that they can show up as themselves and do their best work. A big part of my role is to inspire them to do even better, to achieve more, to become bigger. When we move on to new places, we will all have grown.Thirdly, we have to deliver results. Clients pay good money for what we do. We must honour that investment and then some. We all have targets. Exceeding those targets earns us the right to do the good stuff.As Chief Operating Officer for Capgemini Invent UK, I bring together these three aspects to create a place where people and ideas can flourish. I help to lead a part of our business that has grown successfully for many years. I also deliver leadership courses around the world that make step changes in people’s careers.
