Serve as a senior leader in the institution, sitting on the President's Cabinet, assisting in the strategic and day-to-day decision-making of the College. Lead Planning & Capital Projects, Facilities Operations & Maintenance, and Public Safety & Security Departments, providing an environment in which exceptional instruction and learning can take place.

Responsible for the Facilities and Security of the College which has an enrollment of roughly 6,000 FTE (21,000 unduplicated head count) attending courses at 5 primary locations encompassing roughly 600,000 square feet of owned and leased space in the two county service area. Lead the Division of Facilities Services, which includes the Departments of Facilities Operations & Maintenance, Planning & Capital Projects, and Public Safety & Security. Represent the College at public meetings and frequently present to the municipal bodies in which the College is resident. Responsible for fiscal and status reporting to the Board of Trusteesfor new construction, remodeling/renovation, and day-to-day facilities operations and maintenance. Manage an annual operations budget of roughly $3M and reoccurring annual capital improvement of $1.5M. Ensure immediate, mid, and long range plans for the college’s facilities support of the institutional and academic Strategic Plans. Provide oversight, plan, direct, and participate in all capital projects from concept through construction, leveraging various Master Plans to inform the project planning process. Develop, implement, and evaluate programs and strategies designed to create and maintain safe, functional, clean and orderly facilities, with focus on delivery of “green” and environmentally friendly campus services that ensure efficient and economical operation. Provide oversight of the College's public safety & security efforts, including strategy for security for all campuses, and obtaining appropriate resources to meet the identified needs, Leads the College's emergency management mitigation and preparedness efforts, including training, exercises, and evaluation, as well as coordination with local public safety and emergency management organizations.

As Director of Facilities Planning & Design, lead a staff of Manager/Architects, Plan Reviewers, and outside Architectural/Engineering Teams in the delivery of designs, schedules, and estimates for new construction and comprehensive renovation projects. I provided guidance and leadership to the Teams developing the designs for schools, with budgets ranging from $102,000,000 down to small tenant funded projects below $1,000,000. These projects ranged from new “greenfield” facility construction, historical building renovations, building expansions, school cosmetic refresh and technology upgrades and finally to service depot and fuelling stations. I was primary custodian of the District’s 1/2 Cent Sales Tax School Renovation Program, which, with projected revenues of $1.8B over its ten year life, was anticipated to fund renovation and/or replacement of 136 of the District’s older schools.

As Acting Chief Facilities Officer during the period from August 2010 through May 2011 while a nationwide search effort was underway to fill that position, provided executive leadership within the 10th largest public K-12 School District in the nation. Led and provided guidance to the 47 in house and 18 contracted professionals, and 445 supervisors and technicians responsible for long range strategic facilities planning, real estate management and acquisition, facilities maintenance, large and small project construction, facilities logistics, and fiscal accounting. Responsible for the management of 28M square feet of schools and ancillary facilities at 188 sites (with a corresponding annual operating budget of $28M), 4,400 acres of real estate (with a current acquisition budget of $9.2M), and managing the Districts ongoing 136 school major renovation/replacement program, new school construction, small tenant projects, and temporary facilities programs (FY 2011 capital budget $722M with a 10 year Capital Outlay Plan totaling $1.9B).

As V.P of Construction, was responsible for establishing project controls and strategies for this start up residential development and construction firm. Implemented a new accounting system and protocols, as well as Contracting, Subcontracting, and Change Order processes. Oversaw construction of several multi-family residential projects where I introduced green initiatives and owner relationship management. Led the entitlement process for a 52 unit townhome development and several single family residential projects, as well as bidding residential and commercial projects, and developing project proformas for future projects.

As Sr. Project Manager, led the construction process for BP during the continuing roll out of their new Convenience Store with Quick Serve Restaurant Program in Florida, from Preconstruction and site planning through project turnover to Operations, with continuing modifications as programs were rolled out. Managed all aspects of estimating, budgeting, General Contractor and Vendor supervision, Safety, Owner Supplied FF&E, turn over to Operations, and project close out. Concurrent with my responsibilities as Sr. Project Manager, as Zoning and Development Manager, led the site selection, entitlement, and permitting processes on new and redevelopment properties for BP in Central and South Florida. Supervised several engineering and architectural consultants in the development of construction plans and assisted the Project Management Staff during the execution of the projects. Worked closely with BP Operations and Marketing divisions to plan, develop, and permit ongoing modification programs once the stores were open. Performed similar duties on several Whataburger Restaurants being constructed in a build-to-suit arrangement by the Alliance Development Group for the local Whataburger Franchisee. Provided Program Management Services to both Wyndham and Starwood hotel chains on multi-site, multi-state programs which included complete cosmetic rework of guestrooms, baths, and public spaces, including Auditoriums. Provided Construction Management Services for a 94,000 sf, 24 screen AMC Movie Theater where I also supervised installation of Owner supplied FF&E. Led the General Contractor team on a 72,636 sf ambulatory/primary care center with basic diagnostics, rehabilitation and community education.

As Project Manager led the General Contractor team on a range of projects from a 6 story 210,000 sf concrete office building with an adjacent 5 story parking structure, to Interior Tenant Upfit Projects, including an auditorium equipped for sound recording. Assisted the Preconstruction and Purchasing Departments with Bids and Procurement of projects. As Project Engineer, worked on the General Contractor’s team on an innovative Pei Cobb Freed design 15 story, 300,000 sf, Class A, downtown office building.

Managed Several Technical Services Contracts for the US Navy’s Military Sealift Command (MSC) providing Marine Engineering and Technical Support to MSC’s Engineering Directorate. Led a team of up to 7 Engineers, Clerks, and Technicians on these multi year contracts totaling approximately $1Million per year.

Performed shipboard duties as Division Officer and Department Head. Responsible for supervising crew while performing maintenance and operation of auxiliary (air conditioning, plumbing, electrical), fire fighting, and deck systems. Left the service as a Lieutenant. Participated in the US Naval Reserve assigned to Naval Construction Battalion 14 in 2000 serving as Administrative Officer for the 600 Seabees assigned to the unit.
