Interpret standard work instructions, charts, tables, blueprints, formulas, sketches, verbal and electronic orders, job layouts, etc. to accomplish assigned work.Ensure that all equipment is used in accordance with established safety and operating procedures.Conduct routine preventative work to maintain and ensure cleanliness of equipment.Diagnose and correct malfunctions occurring in machining and/or assembly process.Perform necessary drilling, riveting, assembly or subassembly, including bonding and sealing as required.Use any and all precision measuring instruments, gauges, tools, etc., necessary to check machine readiness and to check completed parts for finish, dimensions and conformance to quality requirements.Perform all tasks involved in the coordination, preparation, and movement of material and tools.Operate a forklift and mobile crane equipment to accomplish work assignment.Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work.Work with Engineering, Planning, research engineers, etc. to originate and develop new procedures, techniques and production aids to facilitate equipment operations and to support design and implementation of new products.

• Engineering responsibilities include but are not limited to: o Fabricate engine replacement parts. o Install engine controls, propeller shafts, and propellers. o Maintain and repair engines, electric motors, pumps, winches and other mechanical and electrical equipment o Maintain electrical power, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, water, and sewerage systems. o Monitor engine, machinery, and equipment indicators when vessels are underway, and report abnormalities to appropriate shipboard staff. o Start engines to propel ships, and regulate engines and power transmissions to control speeds of ships, according to directions from captains or bridge computers. • Deckhand responsibilities include but are not limited to: o Meal preparation & clean-up for crew and passengers o Maintaining orderly conditions on deck and super-structure, bathrooms, crew’s lounge and passenger quarters o Assist in passenger transfer to and from vessel, passenger orientation and safety, accuracy of passenger manifests o Aid the Engineer with engine room inspections and inspection and maintenance of all fire extinguishing units, hoses and monitors o Splice and assist with splicing of tie-up lines, man mooring lines, assist with transfer of fuel and water; ensure readiness of life rafts and preservers
