Iqaluit, Nunavut

In my role as Regional Director of Facilities at Baffin for the Government of Nunavut, I lead a dedicated team in the construction, operations and maintenance of public assets across a vast geographical region. I oversee facility projects from the southern hamlet of Sanikiluaq to the far north settlement of Grise Fjord on Ellesmere Island, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency. By implementing strategic plans and effective programs and project management, the Government of Nunavut and its client departments realize cost savings and operational efficiencies. The role provides unique logistical and operational challenges including a complete lack of interconnecting roads between communities, a shortened construction season and the requirement to move everything by air or by sea.

Iqaluit Nunavut

In my role as Chief Electrical Inspector (Authority Having Jurisdiction) at the Government of Nunavut in Iqaluit, I was responsible for developing and administering an Electrical Safety and Inspection Program for the Nunavut Territory. I fully staffed and trained a team of Regional Inspectors to ensure compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code. Additionally, I implemented a cloud-based system for permitting, licensing, and construction defect tracking to streamline contractor compliance and documentation management.Worked collaboratively with the offices of the Fire Marshal and Building Officials to provide support and expertise. Developed strategies for cooperation, mutual support and concurrent activity managing a shared responsibility for ensuring a safe built environment in the territory of Nunavut.Represent Nunavut on National Committees , including the Canadian Advisory Committee for Electrical Safety (CACES), the Provincial Advisory Committee (PAC) and as a voting member on the Canadian Electrical Code Part I Technical Committee. Voting member on the Canadian Electrical Code Part II Consumer Products Technical Committee.
