An accomplished and innovative scientist with over 16 years research experience, in industry and academia, currently specialising in the development of antibody-based biologics. Having worked for a small but dynamic biopharmaceutical company, I have extensive practical experience with all aspects of biotherapeutic research and development, starting from lead selection and optimisation, upstream and downstream process development and analytics. I have a particular interest in the regulatory and technical issues concerning the implementation of Quality by Design (QbD) for biologics. I began my research career in plant molecular biology by initiating new research into plant translation initiation factors. This research involved the cDNA cloning, de novo sequencing and antisense knock-down of plant translation initiation factors and attracted significant industrial funding. Since then, I have acquired expertise in a wide array of molecular, genetic, biochemical and protein structural techniques to study the molecular biology and biochemistry of protein trafficking into chloroplasts, the catalytic mechanisms of redox enzymes and the structural basis of antibody fragment (scFv) stability.
