During this period I worked as a self employed builder mainly in London and the South east,renovating period buildings.The role was extremely varied and gave me an in depth knowledge of most aspects of the buildind trade including plumbing,electrics,roofing,flooring and decorating.Due to relocation I left the renovation business to change career.

Zell Am Zee Austria

In the summer 1991 I applied for and was given the role as chalet manager on a ski resort in Austria.The chalet catered for 20 guests and my role was to ensure that thier stay was a memorable experience in order to maintain lucrative repeat business.I was required to run the chalet as a small hotel, from preparing breakfast and evening meal,housekeeping, running and maintaining the house bar, plus selling and advising guests of all external activities.Being a manager relied heavily on my customer service skills and my ability to work on a set budget through the season.

Joined F.Hinds Ltd as a sales assistant and quickly gained the title of assistant manager learning all aspects of running a retail jewellers business. Briefly left in 1986 to take on the role of manager in a pawnbrokers/jewellers (D.Russell) but returned to F.Hinds in 1987 to assume role as relief manager, finally taking on my own shop in 1988.The role was responsible for customer service, employee relations, stock control, display, jewellery/watch valuations and repairs and ultimately achieving budgeted profit.
