I am the lead custodian for Prairie View elementary school in Post Falls, Idaho. I've been part of the Post Falls School District since 2018. As a custodian in the education sector I've been learning to build on my prior experiences in the business world. I have learned through time my job is one of those aspects that are not always recognized or understood as it happens to be more physically demanding, but what I do matters to ensure the day to day operations of my school flow as smooth as possible. In my current role I thrive in always being the first one to work each day, staying over when needed and working extra events on evenings or weekends to help fellow colleagues and other schools who need an extra hand or covering events at my own school. In the previous 12 months I have been working Sundays as I have had two local churches who have chosen Prairie View as their place to gather for services while outside circumstances have them looking for new homes. Cleanliness, safety and attention to details are essential to a job well-done in what I do. While I continue working as a custodian, I still have a connection to my prior educational and practical background in journalism both in the fields of writing and voice work, and I am hopeful to reconnect to my past roots but a combination of fear and feeling stuck in the current day to day has kept me from finding the passion, but that is up to me to work on. I am looking to reconnect with old word colleagues and make new connections and collaborate to come up with solid ideas that I may be able to consider and attempt to pursue opportunities that likely are out there but I often feel stuck and unsure of the best steps to take. With LinkedIn as a tool available to use, my goal is to regain confidence while creating new connections to open my heart and mind not just related to my current job and past history, but to help me find ways to learn how to hold on to the dreams that have a spark for me. It's never too late to start making improvements so I have learned.
