I have always envied those people who believe that they used those years to their best advantage and that they achieved those things that they wanted to at such an early age. In my experience what separated those people from the rest of us, is that they knew what it was they wanted to be or do. They had a plan and good on them. Does that mean you can’t have a plan when you are thirty or forty or fifty? That school was your chance and now this is your lot? We are generally living until we are well into our eighties, that means less than 25% of our entire lives were spent in school, can we not learn and develop with the other 75%?Traditional education has been generally the same for hundreds of years, we had a much shorter life span in those days and socio-economic factors meant that most people knew what they were destined to become, and they were ‘content’ with their lot.The job market is much more fluid now there are very few if any jobs for life and very few pensions that sustain individuals in retirement. People need to learn to be flexible and look for opportunities as they arise. They need to embrace this new world order and grab what they can. How do we do this you may ask, simple “Identify, Learn, Achieve”. Many people will try to tell you that it’s a waste of time and not for you, but they belong to the old-world order. They say you have had your chance…well they are wrong; every day is that chance.
