Deputy Legal Advisor to the Commander, 1st Cavalry Division and 3d Infantry Division. Chief, Administrative Law for the Commander of U.S. Forces Afghanistan. Responsible for all administrative investigations in Afghanistan during this period, including many high profile and sensitive investigations into combat actions, friendly fire accidents and casualties, insider attacks, and significant property loss. Advised the four-star commander on all regulatory compliance issues, investigations, government ethics issues, government travel issues (use of fixed wing aircraft as a designated traveler, involvement with NGOs, etc.). Supervised a team of eighteen attorneys locally and geographically spread across the area of operations.

Coalesced and organized voluminous documentary and digital evidence, drafted and argued motions, handled all preliminary hearings, and ultimately negotiated a favorable plea deal and obtained a Life without Parole sentence. Saved the government significant monetary costs, while obtaining a sentence sought after by the client.

Investigated and served as the chief prosecutor (first chair) after a prison riot, where 14 inmates, kidnapped and seriously assaulted a guard, seized control of a special housing unit (wing of prison for the most serious offenders), that was only ended after a lengthy standoff after a breach by swat teams. Advised the prison officials on all aspects from initial incident (response, use of non-lethal rounds, evidence documentation, etc.). Served as first chair prosecutor on the subsequent criminal trials, drafted and responded to multiple motions, successfully obtained convictions for Mutiny, Kidnapping, and Assault.
