After earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing during 2020, Jonathan obtained his second bachelor’s degree and began his nursing career that October as a registered nurse on the cardiac telemetry/progressive care unit. He also completed a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology in 2016 specializing in Health Wellness and Promotions. His interest in nursing began when he was young, witnessing the impact that a nurse could have in treating patients beyond medicine.Previous professional health-care field experience took place working for the Healthy Aging Association as a health educator and fitness program assistant/trainer. Here he worked with the older adult population in helping instruct fitness classes and implementing several health programs, along with conducting presentations on health topics including mental, nutritional, spiritual and physical health. Jonathan also taught the evidence-based, “A Matter of Balance” classes to help older adults address fears of falling, finding ways to reduce fall risk factors, increasing activity levels, and learning to view falls as controllable. Jonathan volunteered at the Sutter Gould Foundation in Modesto for 300+ hours combined in the Oncology and Rheumatology departments and worked 3 years at a local pharmacy delivering medications to various health facilities.Jonathan grew and developed his overall professionalism as a founder of the national, multicultural Greek organization, Omega Delta Phi Fraternity Incorporated, at California State University, Stanislaus. During his tenure as an active member he held many positions which refined his time-management and professional communication skills. Jonathan spent many hours doing hands-on community service with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), New Dimensions Foster Family Agency Incorporated and United Way. Outside of his organization, he also did volunteer services with Sierra Vista Child and Family Services.Jonathan’s hobbies include traveling, spending time with family and friends, and playing and watching sports. What makes Jonathan unique is his passion for life, which ties into his true nature of being completely genuine when interacting with others. Jonathan is trustworthy and loyal to those around him which is a testament to his character. He has always been a very compassionate person giving back to others, and as a nurse he is now able to continue giving back and is fulfilling his life-long dream.
