During his time at Ernst & Young LLP, Jonathan has worked with numerous clients on export compliance process improvements, Importer Self-Assessment (ISA) filings, Prior Disclosure filings, Foreign Trade Zone applications for subzones, ASF, TSF, Activation and Production Notification, Alterations as well as Foreign Trade Zone on-going management, and assisting clients prepare various documents to US Customs and the Foreign Trade Zone Board. Jonathan works closely with clients to find ways to mitigate exposure due to Section 232 and Section 301 measures. His work involves reviewing company existing supply chains, valuation methods, transfer pricing, and application for relief through existing exclusion procedures. Jonathan routinely conducts research on various trade topics such as anti-dumping and countervailing legislation, import and export requirements to various countries and Customs rulings among other topics to help clients compliantly navigate their trade operations.

-Consulting: Resolved back-log of 70 outstanding shipments worth over $250,000 within 1 week. Audited export documentation packets to verify integrity of shipment requirements. Documented the export compliance process for the client. Presented performance evaluation and recommendations to overhaul clients’ current compliance management system to streamline export of shipments.-Implementation of import/export trade compliance processes, including Harmonized Schedules (HS), Export Control Numbers (ECCNs), Munitions List (ML), government sanctions lists, and trade legislation to ensure client’s compliance with government laws and regulations for several countries.-Knowledgeable on import and export operations, U.S. agencies and import and export regulations including: USHTS, Schedule B, CROSS, EAR, OFAC, and ITAR.-Present to top management trade related regulatory and legislative changes such as: the Dodd-Frank 1502 Act, the TPP Agreement, FPLA regulations and requirements, and Free Trade Agreement (FTA) implementations. -Manage and train colleagues and interns on functionality of company software applications, UAT testing, and interpretation of government trade laws and legislation. -Incorporate, review and edit Rules of Origin for multiple Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) as part of a software application feature for clients.-Creation of process flow charts to accurately implement Israeli, Swedish and Norwegian export controls into Amber Road software applications for clients three weeks ahead of schedule.

-Transcribed interviews conducted in English and Arabic for a project on Palestinian diaspora communities saving 60 hours per month for classics and world religions professor. -Compiled data using UNDP statistical annexes with Microsoft Excel and prepared a literature review for a comparative study on food security in Southeast Asia.-Represented the Southeast Asian Studies constituents and graduate body-at-large, as well as negotiated important issues that affect graduate students’ well-being on their behalf.

-Coordinated USA Meets Europe: A Forum for Young Leaders (USAME), held in Washington D.C. and New York City April 18-24, 2010.-Juggled and successfully handled multiple, detail-oriented tasks including: stakeholder research, marketing, social media networking, document translation, editing of organization homepage and research papers, report-writing, drafting invitation letters, and communication with institutions across Europe and the United States to promote organization’s events.

- Conducted two independent research and pilot studies in the rural highlands of northern Vietnam to measure:- possibilities for the development of a sustainable waste management system, and;- the success of government enforced labor migration policies as a means of alleviating poverty.
