Jonathan Downey is an educational researcher, linguist, and statistics instructor at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. He holds a PhD in Education from the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education at the University of California Santa Barbara. His research investigates the validity of measures of socioeconomic status and vocabulary proficiency in large international assessments. He also studied Spanish Literature and Economics at Tufts University in Boston (B.A.) and Language Acquisition at the University of the Basque Country in Northern Spain (M.A.). He has taught ESL in Spain and Saudi Arabia, as well as high school Spanish in Colorado.
