Starting in 2021, I moved to one of our assembly locations as the lead industrial engineer, responsible for costing all finished good projects, but also overseeing the other manufacturing and distribution locations. The Industrial Engineering role at ELC operates between product development, finance, and supply chain planning - the IE is responsible for determining cost and capacity feasibility of new products, identifying production inefficiencies and supporting potential solutions. In addition to Industrial Engineering, I serve as Continuous Improvement "Lean Champion" for the Pennsylvania campus, responsible for facilitating and directing Northtec's portfolio of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma projects.Responsibilities of these roles include: - Feasibility analysis of potential new products - Labor analysis and costing of all new products that go into operations - Weekly & monthly Efficiency (OEE) reporting & team meeting lead - Quarterly run-rate analysis and adjustments to ensure operation standards match supply planning - Annual site review - analysis of current and projected production and maximum site capacity - Giveback Program - program guarantees 6% reduction in cost yearly, IE is responsible for determining savings, and ensuring lean projects and/or capital investments can support the savings - Lean Champion - Sponsor all lean manufacturing projects, lead a monthly update meeting, and work with individual projects to provide lean tools and ensure timely completion of objectives - Collaborative Robots - currently working with collaborative robot arm to eliminate variability in the Quality Inspection process.
