I am responsible for maintaining the CDM Charge Master on behalf of the company. This includes auditing for charge reconciliation compliance across all revenue-generating departments. As billing guidelines update or we create new service lines for the facility, I am tasked with implementing new charge codes and creating linkages between those charges and order entry codes. I also complete the annual CPT crossover projects and audit specific charges tied to observation stays. On a monthly basis, I provide data to our accounting team to the extent of non-billable emergency department visits, implant and high cost drug carve-outs, and inpatient and outpatient visit data for HIIM. Additionally, I provide statistics for Medicare, Medicaid, and Third-Party accounts. I host monthly meetings with the revenue cycle team including Patient Access, Patient Accounts, HIIM, and Case Management to review processes and implement revisions to increase revenue.

I was responsible for the daily operations of clerical staff. I worked closely with all providers, employed and non-employed, to complete charts to meet compliance guidelines. Furthermore, I on-boarded new providers with HIIM requirements for documentation and systems use including: Medhost Clinical View, Medhost Patient Care, Medhost EDIS, M*Modal Dictation, and Fluency Dictation software. I was the first line of communication for all incoming calls and requests and faxed requested records to appropriate entities.

I reconciled emergency department revenue daily and worked with ED providers and nursing staff to finish incomplete or incorrect documentation. I was cross-trained and utilized as a “super user” for new EMR implementation (Medhost EDIS) and trained new providers on the systems.

I validated and verified patient insurance benefits to provide out-of-pocket estimates for surgical procedures. I provided notifications of admission to insurance payers. In addition, I led the reconciliation of medical necessity denials for outpatient testing. I registered patients for outpatient testing in order to begin the claims process.
