At Whiting-Turner, I worked with a team of 20 on a $200 million project at the China Lake Naval Weapons Center that contained over a dozen different structures on 3 separate projects. The structures were built from a variety of materials ranging from PEMBs with insulated metal panels to CMU and solid concrete structures. During this internship, I immersed myself in the construction process by performing takeoffs, examining and familiarizing myself with the construction drawings, RFP, and BIM model, and analyzing submittals for accuracy before submitting them for approval.

With Resource Building Materials, I became very familiar with the bottom step in the construction process by supplying a variety of building materials to general contractors. Working with a small team, I had to fill large quantity orders in short turnaround periods. The company prides itself on repeat business and that is only possible by the impeccable customer service we provided. In addition to filling orders for customers, I completed various other jobs my manager requested. Many of these had to do with improving the aesthetic of the store, enhancing the customer experience, or bettering the organization and cleanliness of the yard.

For this position, I worked in an Amazon warehouse receiving shipments of various items to store for future shipments. I eventually moved down to the dock where I received the shipments off the trucks and even worked as a pallet runner moving pallets of items all over the warehouse. I became very familiar with warehouse operations during this time which helped me to perform my job very efficiently.

I worked within a Whole Foods grocery store as a part of Amazon's online grocery service. Here I received online orders from customers, picked those orders from the store, and packaged them for delivery in a timely manner. Customer service was important as I would often have to work with the client to find a suitable substitute for any items that were missing. Customer satisfaction was very important to me and I always did my best to ensure the customer got exactly what they wanted and was satisfied with their order.

Camp Pendleton, California

I was trained as a Signals Intelligence Specialist and attached to 1st Radio Battalion following my training. My job entailed assembling and programing a variety of communications equipment such as radios, long-range antennas, satellite antennas, and small computer networks. Once these systems were in place, my job was to maintain them and troubleshoot any problems that arose. After moving up in rank to sergeant, I was placed in a managerial and supervisory role with Training Support Battalion. My duty was to ensure the well being and safety of as many as 30 other Marines and ensure their tasks were being completed. In addition to this, I also managed training support requests from hundreds of units all over Camp Pendleton, issuing equipment and support personnel as needed.Following my time at Training Support Battalion, I moved back to 1st Radio Battalion to work in the S-3T where I helped supervise the training operations and the personal records for the entire battalion. After 5 years of service, I was discharged honorably.
