Using Adobe Flash and ActionScript, I crafted eye-catching visuals, a completely from scratch, custom UI, and integrated PayPal as a secure payment processor with the best security protocols that existed (at the time in ~2007). This project led me to land various freelance opportunities, including:* Creating a custom photography portfolio website for an artist who collaborated with Alec Soth, which used a highly customized gallery library, etc., all before React, Vue, and Angular existed. * Multiple websites for local artists. * I also gained knowledge and exposure to Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and design concepts by talking about dev work with the in-house web, web design and design teams. My work at the Walker itself included: * Starting out as a Gallery Monitor (providing friendly, unarmed art security and directions)* Moved within a year to becoming Security center staff, managing the secure entrance for staff, artists, and celebrities.* Back-up Mailroom supervisor, responsible for sorting and delivering mail, making daily bank deposits of large amounts of cash, ordering supplies for all offices, etc., whenever needed, retaining complex information/procedures, sometimes even after months without filling in, then hopping in for a month.* Finished my time out there in Events, overseeing the setup, maintenance, and takedowns for events that could be as large as involving 10,000+ attendees, like Rock the Garden and the Cat Film Festival.
