Customer experience is everything. In today’s marketplace, consumers need to feel like they’re being taken care of promptly. Even 24 hours is too long for their queries or complaints. Yet, they also want a personal touch and a sense that their needs are being prioritised. This balance isn’t easy to strike, and implementing it at scale has consistently been a major investment, even for the largest corporations. That’s why we founded rather.chat. When most people think of chatbots, they recall the horrific early examples that dominated the last decade.However, artificial intelligence has changed everything. By leveraging generative AI, we can create chatbots that understand and meet customers' unique needs. Customers are able to interact with your brand at a moment’s notice. I started my journey in the actuarial sciences, which led me to a career in the insurance industry. After almost a decade of working for others, I knew I wanted to build something of my own. This led me and my co-founder, Matt Kloos, to start Comparisure, a financial services platform that aimed to use chat platforms to allow South Africans to access financial products more easily.In 2022, the world of chat fundamentally changed. This was led by Meta launching the WhatsApp cloud API in May 2022, which allows businesses to scale their WhatsApp engagements with customers by leveraging bots and centralizing client support. Then, in November, ChatGPT launched to the public, forever changing people's perception of bots. This made chatbot engagements 100 times more human at a fraction of the cost. These advancements made it obvious that the chat wave would fundamentally change how businesses engage with their customers.rather.chat was born!When I’m not at work, you can catch me on my mountain bike or with my family, who are the backbone of everything I do.
