I love Content Management Systems (CMSs). Yes, it really is true!I must, as in my time at LSEG and Thomson Reuters I have played a key role in building two of them from scratch. My experience as a product manager has brought many different responsibilities, including managing roadmaps and development sprint cycles, writing up product requirements, signing off wireframes, testing, website deployments, client communications and analytics, but what has given me the greatest fulfilment has been the development and management of the CMSs - continuously adapting them to meet the needs of the business and it's customers. It's the hardest thing to get right due to their complexity, and the first thing the users (editors, journalists & analysts) will complain about when things go wrong (!), but for me it's that challenge and enabling people do their job that gives me the most satisfaction.Another thing I really enjoy is working in a global environment. In 2016 I transferred from the LSEG Canary Wharf, London office to Sydney, Australia. From Sydney, I was the point of contact and product support for the Asia Pacific region, whilst reporting to my manager in London and working with developers based in South Africa. It truly was a global role (that involved some coordination and late nights when arranging meetings!). The experience enabled me to enhance my remote communication skills and engage with different cultures and work practices, whilst still embrace the core values of the organisation.
