Pre-staffing I was Involved in all aspects of machine shop/ mfg. Cost estimation, creating travelers & op sheets, programming CNC machines, instructing colleagues on manual operations, cycle time improvement, vendor relations, and capital procurement. At age 18, I was hired to sweep the floor. As time progressed, I was taught manual machining on knee mills and engine lathes, deburring processes, in-process inspection w/ micrometers & verniers, digi-height measuring tools, and the Cartesian Coordinate System, etc. Once I had a solid understanding of these practices, I was trained on the CNC tools, & CMM. Within 6 months of operating a CNC, I was able to set up, mount fixtures, set work offset zero’s using edge-finders & indicators, & trained in manually editing G-Coded programs. Soon I was responsible for designing and building the work-holding fixtures, programming HMC/VMC's using Mastercam and UG, & creating op sheets for the shop floor. I created a modular system for our HMC's for quick changeover, and then was trained to design travelers and op sheets to manage parts from inception to shipment, and eventually supporting our customers to be certain their needs were met.Seven years after I began sweeping a machine shop floor, with a solid understanding of our industry, I decided to join a CNC machine tool distribution corporation, and sold capital machinery in NY and CT for 8 successful years. In an effort to eliminate travelling 75k miles/yr., I joined the best engineering recruiter firm in the Northeast.
