I am Associate Editor of The Conversation UK with special responsibility for coverage of media, arts and culture. We are an academia/journalism crossover - a news and analysis website for which all the stories are written by academics and commissioned and edited by journalists. The aim is to combine academic rigour and credibility with the flair and craft skills of journalism.I spent 15 years in newspapers in Australia and the UK and spent the five years as director of communications with the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance. My work there ranged from day-to-day communications, to leading a variety of major research projects and organising conferences and other event. I also took care of our media policy work, lobbying and writing submissions on media law and policy.I am committed to the future of quality, independent, ethical journalism.
