Dealing with an insurance company can be tiring. For over 25 years I have been assisting people with their claims for long-term disability, health care, life insurance, accident insurance, pensions and other benefits whether secured through their employer or purchased on the individual market. I know how important your claim is whether it’s your financial future for you and your family, or your health outcome. My focus is on claims and litigation under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 and similar insurance denied claims under state laws. I have prevailed for individuals in important ERISA cases of first impression in the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals too. Many of my clients have litigated their cases through judgment and appeals because an insurance company would not make a reasonable settlement. Over my career, I have tried about a dozen cases to juries.I am a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, an organization of attorneys dominated by corporate lawyers. I am one of the few Fellows who represents individuals rather than corporations, fiduciaries, and large benefit plans. My practice is national I collaborate with the small pool of other knowledgeable policyholder and ERISA lawyers around the US. I enjoy co-counseling cases with other lawyers working in the same area, or others who are ready to venture into the world of ERISA and policyholder litigation. Also, I represent non-US citizens in US insurance claim, and on occasion, have pursued causes of action in other jurisdictions, most recently in Malta. Many non-US citizens who work for multinational corporations receive similar benefits that US citizens do through their employers too but the good news is that the claims are often not governed by ERISA.
