Managing editor of The Circuit. Previously, chief political reporter for Bloomberg News on Israeli and Palestinian affairs, non-resident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council. Earlier worked for United Press International, covering the 1991 Gulf War in Saudi Arabia, moving to Israel as Jerusalem Bureau Chief and serving as Asia Regional Editor in Hong Kong. Graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton and received a master’s degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism. Awarded a Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University in 1995, won the 2017 Robert St. John Prize in Objective Middle East Reporting from Israel’s Ben Gurion University.

Based in Israel, I've reported on Mideast politics and business from Jerusalem to the Persian Gulf. The roller-coaster peace process has taken me to Israeli-Palestinian summits in Egypt, Yasser Arafat's seaside headquarters in the Gaza Strip and the Netanyahu-Obama showdowns at the White House. I was first hired by Bloomberg as a features editor in Hong Kong during the handover from British to Chinese rule. Across Asia, I coached young correspondents to find colorful yarns amidst the daily market news, working with them to produce stories designed to engage a global audience.
