A multidisciplinary designer and planner with experiences ranging from site planning to hands on construction, Jonathan’s been working with Michael Singer Studio on a variety of planning, design, and public art projects since 2005. The Studio's focus on interdisciplinary work has exposed Jonathan to work with collaborators such as the MIT Media Lab, CT Seagrant, Community Solutions, and The Health Impact Project.Jonathan lead the Studio’s role in several projects involving research and design of spaces that serve individuals with ASD. In Hartford CT he worked with community members, local nonprofits, and public health professionals to complete a neighborhood scale sustainability plan; the first to be driven by a Health Impact Assessment. He also leads the Studio's fabrication team on public art projects such as those in Queens Plaza NYC, the Austin Intl Airport, the Seminole Tribe, and at Stanley Greene (part of Toronto's Downsview Park redevelopment).Along with his work at the Studio, Jonathan engages in small scale rehab design-build projects. Before joining Michael Singer Studio Jonathan had the privilege of working with noted product designer the late Eva Zeisel.Jonathan is an urban design lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design where he's taught studios and core curriculum classes since 2008. He developed and taught the first ever urban design concentration introductory studio at the school. Jonathan holds a BFA from RISD, and a MArch and MCP from the Univ. of Penn. He's had numerous speaking engagements including at annual conferences such as those of Denmark's national GIS association and the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection as keynote, RI Flood Mitigation Association, New England Estuarine Research Society, the Association for Behavior Analysis International, and Slow Living Summit, and has served on the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council Urban Design Review Panel.
