About Jonathan Fulcher (Phd)
I am currently working as an engineer for the Boston University Electronics Design Facility stationed full time at CERN. The mission is to work on development and testing of the latest electronics/firmware/software for the data acquisition system of the CMS Inner Tracker Upgrade. In my previous position, i was helping the engineers at Bity SA. We used several technologies among which: Python, Rust, Node JS, PostgreSQL and Kubernetes. My main activities were working on back-end development for micro-services written in Rust, Node JS (Typescript) and Python with PostgreSQL DBs. Their services provide users with either REST API or web interfaces to exchange Fiat <=> Crypto. Before this I spent some time freelancing as a quantitative developer, building manual, semi-automated and fully automated trading strategies in collaboration with a prop trader in the USA. Taking advantage of numerous technologies such as Node JS, Python, Keras, Tensor Flow, MongoDB, REST API, Websockets. A web based application was developed using REST APIs to link to exchange accounts. Custom market indicators and strategies were developed, providing trade signals that trigger position creation and management on a fully automated trading engine. Various other high speed algorithmic trading applications performing strategies such as inter & intra-arbitrage, and market making on numerous markets. The end goal of this work is leading towards a web application with a community of traders all interacting and sharing signals while also taking advantage of trade signals that are generated by proprietary strategies. Careful attention to risk management was paid at all times, employing mathematical modelling to maximize returns and reduce losses. Previously as an applied physicist at CERN within the CMS DAQ Group. Participation in operations, including on-call duties. Contribution to design, implementation, and upgrades, including technology tracking, and storage technologies, as well as software/hardware technologies relevant for data acquisition. Before that I was employed as a Research Assistant at Imperial College and stationed at CERN from 2003 until 2015. My post was Research Assistant in High Energy Physics Department in Imperial College London, placed at CERN, Geneva, working on integration, commissioning, development, and operations of the CMS tracking detector.
