As Strategic Lead for Safeguarding and Vulnerable groups, based in Devon, I am privileged to lead a team of dedicated, passionate and experienced colleagues who provide a wealth of support, guidance and training for schools and settings across the South West. This ranges from Early Years Foundation Stage through to Further Education. We support settings from the maintained, including Federations; Multi Academy Trusts, Free and independent sector schools and colleges who benefit from our extensive understanding and experience of how to meet their safeguarding requirements and responsibilities.Having started my teaching career in 1998, I was fortunate to work in four different schools across different Local Authorities including being subject leader for PE and PSHE, as KS2 team leader, Deputy Head and for 9years, in two large Primary schools, the substantive Headteacher which included the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead - DSL. In my current role, I am delighted to utilise my previous experience and current safeguarding knowledge to offer a wide range of services. These include: • Training for new DSLs, L3 refresher training and whole staff group 2 training• Safeguarding reviews to support leaders identify areas for development and strength• Representing education at partnership meetings • Delivering governor training including that for the named safeguarding governor• As an nationally accredited Safer Recruitment trainer – Lucy Faithful Foundation• Providing bespoke training for health professionals including GPs and the Peninsula Dental School• Supporting level 3 complaints procedures • Developing bespoke training solutions and packages including on-line resources and training packages• Consultancy support • Speaking at conferences for audiences such as School Business Managers, senior administrators and leaders of SENDI pride myself in a pragmatic and supportive approach recognising that education is an ever changing, complex environment that at its core has the welfare and wellbeing of the child at heart.
