I operate and maintain the AFM200-RT

Since being at Brodie Engineering I have worked on the 158 contract overhauling the doors removal and refit of air conditioning units, CT tanks, fuel tanks, and Webasto heaters, and bogies. On the 155 contract again overhaul of the doors , removal and refit of Webasto heaters, fuel tanks, bogies, gangways and a new fire Ext modification.On the Sleeper contract I have renewed all the valves, tanks and mountings as and when required, I also removed and refitted the roof hatch, the air con fans and freed off air con ducking vents. on the 170 contract i helped remove and refit new bogies, engine and gearbox. On the 156 contract I helped fit new engine and gearbox. On the Siemens contract i helped build temp. bogies and fitted new bogies to a crash damage coach. And finally I carry out a monthly check on the Loco at UPM Caledonian Irvine. Since working at Brodies I have covered a large body of work and have maintained a high standard Health and safety and quality of work.

Agency contracted for Wabtec Rail starting in November 2013. I am working in part of a large team stripping train carriages and coaches back to their frame and refurbishing these to be used in again in the rail industry. There will be many different aspects to the job including refurbishing existing components and completing new replacement in break modules, battery box gangways & air con units to bring them up to and exceed modern standards. Wabtec have put me through training to use threre over head crane including a basic banks & sling course.

In my role I worked within a team of 12 mechanics on a rotational shift basis working on Volvo Trucks and Buses from 7.5 Tons to 100 Tons including engines, gearboxes, differential drives and performing diagnostics. As one of the more senior mechanics within the team, my day to day duties include the following:• specialize in recondition of engines and gearboxes inc. dismantle, assessment,reassemble, calibrate and function check.• Conducting vehicle diagnostics and job assessments; cataloging job scope onto job sheets.• Once problem has been identified, and depending on the warranty/contract, repair the vehicle or if not under warranty, refer back to customer for authorization to complete the repair.• Ordering parts as required and keeping customer updated on vehicle repair quoting any delays.• Tachograph and Speed limiter fit, inspection and calibration.• Class 1 HGV Driver and full knowledge of road vehicle legislation.• Health and safety responsibilities.I used V- Cad computers and IMPACT Diagnostics System on a daily basis. I was an integral part of the Volvo Action Breakdown Service Team on a rota basis which involves being on call every 6 weeks and repairing breakdowns in the area from Largs to Castle Douglas. I also volunteered on a regular basis for work placements out-with my contractual site to support the company’s resource requirements.
