At Purico Group I consulted on and developed low carbon forward strategies for one of the UK's most diverse manufacturing businesses. I also led multiple projects such as Nottingham Care Village (£3.5m), Ocean Breese Care Home (£2.5m), Conder Structures, Devon Valley Paper Mill (£3m), Newton Shopping Centre and St Mary At Hill (£200k).I managed teams of subcontractors and the procurement of materials and supply chain for several projects simultaneously. Key achievements include:• Saved £55k on projected budget for Nottingham Care and £30k per year in running costs for Conder• Delivered a project that will be largely independent of mains services due to a large solar array, LED lighting throughout, a DC Microgrid and a borehole producing 22lt of fresh water per seconds.

National Projects

This was a personal business venture I set up, supplying and installing ultra-low energy LED lighting technology to commercial and industrial clients throughout the UK. I was responsible for identifying and engaging with potential clients, carrying out comprehensive site audits to identify and quantify potential savings, costs and payback/break even points as well as developing engineering solutions for each project.

East Midlands

At Groundwork, I led a project to design and deliver key economic skills training to micro and emerging enterprises across the East Midland with a keen eye on supporting entrepreneurs in minority ethnic communities.I managed 2 employees, a £600k budget and an 18-month project plan. I also created a modular set of training materials, accredited by the Open College Network aimed at entrepreneurs, social enterprises and micro enterprises to develop key business skills and increase economic activity.

At Action Housing I was responsible for writing the corporate and Business plan for the organisation ahead of significant restructuring of the care and support funding settlements from NHS commissioning groups.I reported directly to the CEO and BOD, however the post was made redundant when the company was taken over by a larger group in 2006.

Seconded To Emda

Managing a project called Local Alchemy, working directly with selected communities to create a suite of economic development tools aimed at stimulating the local economy and capturing the entrepreneurial talent latent in every community. Key elements of the project entailed:• Allowed communities to map the flow of money and develop strategies to retain greater value• Worked directly with the CEO’s of Local Authorities, Government Ministers and Heads of Businesses• Shaped and developed a team of facilitators to work with communities to roll out projects • Worked with Treasury Department on the development of a new social enterprise business model called Community Interest Company “CIC” and University of Birmingham on the Community Land Trust.

North Notts Coalfield District

Worked directly with community members to create social enterprises, trading companies and economic development groups that would strengthen the economic fabric of the target communities. I collaborated with key partners such as Local and County Authorities, the RDA and national charities and was instrumental in creating a number of Village Companies that brought about significant inward investment and employment opportunities throughout the East Midlands.

Bolsover District, North East Derbyshire

In this role I led physical, economic and social regeneration projects within a number of former coal mining communities. I was the key contact between Local Authority and the communities throughout the renewal and regeneration process, creating a forward plan to attract significant inward investment.I also facilitated the creation of several Social Enterprise ventures throughout the district such as The Whaley Thorns and Langwith Village Company, the first of its kind in the UK.
