I received my B.Sc. in Environmental Chemistry from the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2012 followed by my Ph.D. in Chemistry with a focus in Analytical Chemistry in May of 2018 from the University of Waterloo. My Research, which involved the design, evaluation and eventually commercialization of carbon fabric supported thin film solid phase microextraction membranes (TF-SPME) was awarded the W.B. Pearson medal of excellence. Currently, I have just begun an exciting career with SepSolve Analytical/Markes International at the Kitchener/Waterloo location in Canada. I am looking forward to learning from the great team here and assisting customers with their analytical needs!

C2-162 General Lab ManagerUniversity Of Waterloo, Prof. Pawliszyn Research Group May 2014 - May 2020Waterloo, Ontario, CanadaWorking as a Laboratory Manager for Professor Pawliszyn I mostly focussed on the maintenance and use of hyphenated GC instrumentation while guiding GC and environmental analysis focussed graduate students in the laboratory. Moreover, I also continued the research and development of the now commercialized TF-SPME technology supporting the companies releasing the technology onto the market as well as end-users. I also trained new students and industrial users on the application and implementation of SPME technologies during our bi-annual SPME course once serving as the lead instructor at Pittcon 2020 -
Phd. Candidate Analytical ChemistryUniversity Of Waterloo Sep 2012 - May 2018Waterloo, Ontario, CanadaAs a member of Pawliszyn Reserach Group at the University of Waterloo, My research is focused on the development and applications of various on-site sampling technologies. Primarily I am working to develop new thin film microextraction (TFME) samplers for use with portable GC-MS instrumentation such as the Tridion-9 GC-TMS developed by Torion Technologies inc. My research aims to prepare and evaluate a variety of particle loaded, thin film membranes and develop an interface to allow these membranes to be used in conjunction with said instrumentation. Additional projects involve the development of SPME based samplers for oceanic sampling as well as the development and validation of a portable standard analyte generating systems. -
