    Students Helping Honduras (SHH) is a national nonprofit organization created to help the children of Honduras create a better life for themselves and their communities. Our sustainable approach is that we give a hand up, not a hand out. We did this by building schools in rural Honduran neighborhoods with the help of the communities. Doing so, our hope was to give these children access to an education they might otherwise not receive. In the previous two years I held my position, I helped our chapter reach our yearly fundraising goal of $30,000 twice. One of the larger accomplishments we had while in my position was organizing and creating a Giving Day social media campaign. In just 24 hours, I was able to raise $4,758 with the help of our general body members. It turned to be the largest single-day fundraiser in our chapter's history. And of course, I couldn't have done any of the work without any of the other passionate members and dedicated executive board that surrounded me. Without them, none of it would've been possible.As one of SHH @ UMD's fundraising chairs, my duties were to:- Organize and plan national chapter events, galas, and benefit concerts- Create marketing campaigns for various chapter fundraising initiatives- Assist in community outreach to spread awareness for SHH as an organization- Develop relationships with local businesses and restaurants
